The driver's window on my car won't go up. What is wrong?

The other day the driver's window on my car stopped working, what could be wrong? I hit the switch and hear the motor turning but nothing happens.

Do you have a MK3 or MK4 body style? If you don't know what this means then do your gauges light up red and blue or green?

It's a MK3 body style, green guages.
