replacement shocks 06 passat 4mo

The ride on my 06 Passat 4mo seems too stiff and I feel every pothole and bumps in the road.
I seem to hear a thud when i do go over potholes etc. Also due to the stiff ride my car creaks
when I go over bumps.

What are my shock options?

Should I Dynamat my car?

Is this new to the car? In other words how long have you owned this car, and has it always driven that way. European cars typically tend to have a fairly stiff suspension.
