2003 gti 1.8t, grinds when i shift to reverse, and first is hard to shift to. I can shift fine when the car is not running. I've heard it could be that the clutch isnt fully disengaging. what can i do?

I need you to check for leaking at the clutch slave cylinder at the transmission. Just follow the metal brake line to the top of the transmission. The slave cylinder is held on with two 13mm bolts you need to remove those and remove the slave cylinder to inspect for leakage. It's important not to push the clutch pedal when the cylinder is removed.
