car wont start?

my car has a new battery but still wont start. Why?

Mac,

I would love to help. What year and model vw as well as which engine do you have?
Also what happens when you turn the key to start? Does the starter just click or nothing happens
at all?

my car is a 98' volkswagen passat sedan , 1.8 turbo. when i turn the key there's nothing. Just dead

My husband is outside working on it, he has the starter off right now. Please help us!!!

We haven't had any other problems with the car until this. It just started today.. I guess the starter is still on. We're taking the starter off to check the cylinoid

You don't need to pull the starter off to check it. Tell him just to use a test light to see if the small wire that goes to the starter is getting voltage to it. If it is the starter is bad.
