2003 Bug Convertible -- MIL lamp stays on -- car just inspected and serviced.

I had the oil changed on my 2003 convertible within the last week. The car was also serviced at a VW service center 3 days ago -- to replace a headlight bulb and take care of an air bag sensor recall -- and inspected in Washington, DC 2 days ago (it passed). Yesterday, the MIL lamp went on and will not go off. I checked the gas cap and it is on securely.

Finlowl,

I am familiar with the recall you had done and due to the fact that it doesn't really deal with
the engine I don't suspect that. It would be helpful to know what codes are in memory and your local autozone
or other big chain autoparts stores have code readers. If you could get the fault number and report
It back here along with which engine you have then I will be able to tell you what is wrong. It
could be about a hundred things setting it off.
