01 passat transmission shifts really hard at 60km/hr

i had my upper tierod end replaced while driving home the transmission @ 60 km/hr shifted it felt like the car would almost come to a complete halt then go again. every time you slowed down and pciked up speed it would do it.

That doesn't sound right, it wasn't doing this before you had the tie rod end replaced? Is the check engine light on?
